Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- A combination of heat and thunderstorms in the central United States and periods of rain indicated for both Europe and Black Sea region crop areas are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

SHORT-TERM MIDWEST HEAT

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a hot trend in the Midwest during the next two days. The heat would be a concern if soil conditions were not so moist. Instead, rapid development of crops is expected. A front will sag slowly southward this week, producing periods of showers along with the heat and offering good growing conditions.

VARIABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE

In the Southern Plains, hot and dry conditions will continue to stress crops in the western sector. Eastern areas have better soil moisture conditions and will also have periods of thunderstorms to continue favoring crop progress.

NORTHERN PLAINS STORMS

Thunderstorms crossing the Northern Plains over the next two days will lessen any stressful impact of hot conditions early this week.

TROPICAL RAIN WATCH IN DELTA

Across the Delta, isolated showers during mid to late week are indicated, along with a hotter trend. A developing tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico will be watched for the prospect of bringing heavy rain into the region over the next week.

BENEFICIAL PRAIRIES PATTERN

In the Canadian Prairies, a large storm system is in store for late week with widespread moderate to heavy rainfall.

ADDITIONAL BLACK SEA REGION SHOWERS

Across the Black Sea region, this week finds periods of rain crossing Ukraine and western Russia. Moisture is useful for summer crops and late-stage wheat.

CONTINUED WESTERN EUROPE RAIN PROSPECT

In Western Europe, France and Germany have a continued prospect for rain during this week. The rain would be beneficial for wheat.

SOUTHERN BRAZIL RAIN

Across Brazil, southern crop areas continue to be in line for moderate to heavy rain during the coming week. The rain is coming too late for meaningful crop benefit. Farther north, light rain in Mato Grosso will be favorable for the safrinha corn harvest.

VARIABLE ARGENTINA SHOWERS

In Argentina, rain is indicated for northern areas during the last half of the week.

DRIER AUSTRALIA PATTERN

Australia wheat areas will be mainly dry through the balance of the week. Recent rains have improved soil moisture for crop development.
