Commodities Market Impact Weather
Drier Central US 10-Day Forecast
OMAHA (DTN) -- Warmer and drier conditions in the central United States 10-day forecast and favorable rain in the Black Sea region during the past weekend are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.
FAVORABLE MIDWEST 10-DAY FORECAST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for additional rain across the Midwest through Friday. A warmer and drier trend is indicated in the six- to 10-day forecast. This combination of heat and dryness will be favorable for crop development.
BENEFICIAL SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN
Widespread showers in the Southern Plains during the last several days have been beneficial to heading wheat in the west, while showers have caused some flooding in the central and east. Periods of showers will remain in the region through the week, most significantly in the east where flooding remains a concern. Drier conditions are indicated during the coming weekend through the 10-day period. Western areas which still have moisture deficits will see little to no showers. Heat building in next week could cause some stress for the drier areas.
DRIER NORTHERN PLAINS PATTERN
Northern Plains crop areas have additional showers in the next two days indicated. A warmer and drier trend is featured in the three- to 10-day time frame which would be favorable for planting progress and crop development.
MORE DELTA RAIN
The Delta has continued showers and thunderstorms ahead through the balance of this week. Moisture will generally be favorable for crops.

SOUTHEAST RAIN PROSPECT
Southeastern U.S. crop areas have showers and thunderstorms in the five-day forecast. This would be important moisture due to recent dryness and crop stress in the region.
SHOWERS FOR PRAIRIES
In the Canadian Prairies, recent dry and mild conditions were highly favorable for seeding progress. For example, the mid-May period saw progress in Saskatchewan advance to equal the five-year average in completion at just over half done. Warm and dry conditions the balance of this week will favor additional progress.
FAVORABLE BLACK SEA REGION MOISTURE
Moderate to heavy rain moved across Ukraine and southern Russia during the past week. The rain has stabilized wheat crop prospects after some dryness-related reduction.
LIGHT WESTERN EUROPE PRECIPITATION
Western Europe received only light precipitation during the past week. Wheat crop prospects are declining due to the drier trend.
MIXED BRAZIL RAIN
Across Brazil, southern crop areas received moderate to heavy rain during the past weekend. The rain is beneficial for winter corn in Parana and Mato Grosso do Sul. Lighter amounts occurred in Mato Grosso and Goias; however, mild weather brought limited crop stress from the drier trend.
SCATTERED ARGENTINA SHOWERS
Argentina crop areas have scattered light rain in store through the balance of this week. The drier trend will be favorable for corn and soybean harvest progress and for continued wheat planting.
WESTERN AUSTRALIA SHOWERS
Western Australia wheat areas have beneficial showers in the forecast over the next week. Eastern areas have adequate moisture for crop development due to recent rainfall.
