Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- A mild spring pattern across the Midwest and continued rain forecasts for the Black Sea region are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.

BENEFICIAL MIDWEST PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast has a beneficial pattern for Midwest planting and early corn and soybean growth. Periods of showers are indicated during the next seven days, along with seasonal to above normal temperatures west and below normal temperatures east. Following rapid planting progress, the rains will offer useful moisture for early crop growth and development.

SOUTHERN PLAINS SHOWER CHANCE

The Southern Plains region again has stressful dry, windy and very warm to hot conditions in the forecast through the coming weekend. Rain shower prospects increase during the first full week of May. This would be important moisture for winter wheat which has been stressed by hard freeze conditions in mid-April and by subsequent dryness.

VARIABLE NORTHERN PLAINS RAIN

The Northern Plains will see variable rainfall during the next seven days. Light amounts are indicated in western sectors. Eastern sectors have moderate-to-locally heavy amounts. Lighter amounts will offer minimal dryness benefit in the west. Meanwhile, heavier totals in the east will interrupt fieldwork and planting.

LIGHT DELTA RAIN

The Delta has mainly light rain forecast through the next seven days. This trend will favor planting progress and early crop growth.

CONTINUED BLACK SEA RAIN PROSPECT

Black Sea region wheat areas continue with a forecast for favorable moderate-to-locally heavy rain indicated through the next 10 days. This rain would be very beneficial to winter wheat and will be closely monitored.

SHOWERS FOR EUROPE

Central and northern Europe crop areas again have a promising forecast for light-to-moderate rain over the next seven days. This would be important moisture for wheat areas and will be closely tracked.

INCREASED BRAZIL RAIN CHANCE

Rain chances in Brazil crop areas through the next seven days are increasing; moderate-to-locally heavy amounts are featured. Rain would offer improved conditions for pollinating and filling safrinha corn.

DRIER ARGENTINA PATTERN

Argentina crop areas have mainly dry conditions in the seven-day forecast. The drier trend will favor harvest after recent delays due to moderate-to-heavy rain.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA SHOWERS

Western Australia crop areas have light-to-locally moderate rain forecast through the next week. The moisture will be favorable for winter wheat. Eastern Australia has a drier forecast; however, recent rains have improved the soil moisture supply for the new wheat crop.
