OMAHA (DTN) -- A continued forecast for rain and snow across the central U.S. during the next 10 days, and dryness impact in southern Brazil, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

STORMY IN MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast continues to feature an active storm pattern with rain and snow in the Midwest through the next 10 days. Precipitation will be heaviest in the southern half of the region. Fieldwork disruption and flooding are likely. Northern areas will see less precipitation; however, some locally heavy snow is possible later in the week. This ongoing wet pattern will be unfavorable for field drying and warming of soils ahead of spring fieldwork.

VARIABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Southern Plains, periods of rainfall will boost soil moisture for most of the region over the next 10 days. However, drier sections in the southwest could still use more moisture as winter wheat breaks dormancy.

SNOW AND COLD FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains areas will have low temperatures and snow during this week. Temperatures reaching near zero Fahrenheit at times will stress livestock. Moderate-to-heavy snow will also be possible in western sectors late this week. There is also the potential for another large storm system in the middle of next week.

HEAVY RAIN FOR DELTA

The Delta has near-daily rounds of rain through the next 10 days. Precipitation totals will be moderate to heavy. This wet pattern will cause significant disruption in fieldwork. The moderate-to-heavy precipitation will also cause flooding.

MIXED BRAZIL RAIN PATTERN

Across Brazil, northern and eastern areas have moderate-to-locally heavy rain ahead in the next seven days. Southern areas will be drier. Dry conditions in the past two months have led to a downgrading of the southern Brazil soybean and corn crop prospects.

MORE SHOWERS FOR ARGENTINA

Argentina's central crop areas will see additional rain showers through midweek. Recent occurrences of rain have been favorable for filling corn and soybeans.

DRY AND COLDER IN BLACK SEA REGION

In the Black Sea region, a colder and dry pattern is forecast through the next seven days. Winter wheat that has exited dormancy may be at risk for some cold-weather stress.
