OMAHA (DTN) -- Improved chances for Argentina rain, and brief drying in the Midwest, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.

BRIEF MIDWEST DRIER TREND

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for temperatures over the next 10 days to remain above normal across the Midwest. This will help with snowmelt. However, eastern Midwest sectors have moderate-to-heavy rain indicated, which will add to soil saturation and threaten flooding along with delayed fieldwork.

WARM IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, very warm weather over the weekend will bring wheat out of dormancy. Some soil moisture loss is also likely due to the very warm and dry conditions. A new storm system early next week offers a prospect for at least some precipitation for most of the region.

NORTHERN PLAINS SNOW MELT

In the Northern Plains, above normal temperatures through the weekend will allow for steady snow melt and excess soil moisture drainage. Some precipitation is expected during the five-day period. A stronger system early next week could produce some moderate precipitation in a few spots.

MORE DELTA RAIN

The Delta has a dry weekend. A new strong storm offers more moderate-to-heavy rain and a threat of flooding across the region early next week.

MINIMAL BRAZIL RAIN

Across Brazil, far southern areas have dry and very warm to hot conditions, with some crop loss possible. Central Brazil has a favorably dry pattern for soybean harvest. Rain chances are improving beginning in the south during the six-to-10-day time frame.

IMPROVED ARGENTINA RAIN PROSPECT

Argentina has a higher chance for rain in central crop areas over the next week, along with milder weather. This is an improved prospect for crop conditions following a recent hotter and drier pattern.
