Commodities Market Impact Weather
Improved Brazil Harvest Pattern
OMAHA (DTN) -- Lighter rain indicated for Brazil's soybean harvest, and a drier trend still in the Argentina forecast, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.
DRIER WEEKEND FOR MIDWEST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for Midwest soils to remain saturated following rain and snow during this past week. The weekend features a wintry mix in eastern areas and drier in western areas. Mostly dry conditions or with only light precipitation are indicated through the end of January into early February.
BENIGN SOUTHERN PLAINS FORECAST
In the Southern Plains, light precipitation and mild weather are indicated through the next week. There is no cold-air threat to winter wheat at this time.
MILD IN NORTHERN PLAINS
Across the Northern Plains, mild and mostly dry conditions highlight the forecast through the next week. This will allow easing of snow cover and provide favorable conditions for livestock.

VARIABLE BRAZIL RAIN
Across Brazil, central and southern crop areas have light to moderate rain indicated during the next week. This lighter rain pattern will allow soybean harvest progress. Northeastern crop areas will have additional moderate to heavy rain, which improves soil moisture for crops.
LIGHT ARGENTINA RAIN FORECAST
Argentina crop areas again have no more than light rain forecast through the coming weekend. Conditions are going to be very warm to hot as well, leading to evaporation of soil moisture. Dryness concern will increase if the pattern continues through the end of the month.
MILD IN BLACK SEA REGION
In the Black Sea region, temperatures continue to be above- to much-above normal. There are no cold-air threats to winter grains in Ukraine and Russia through the next week.
DRIER SOUTH AFRICA FORECAST
In South Africa, crop weather conditions remain favorable. Production estimates are higher than a year ago. A drier forecast for the 10-day period will bear watching.
NORTHEAST AUSTRALIA RAIN PROSPECT
Across Australia, Queensland and portions of New South Wales have a good chance for moderate to locally heavy rain during the next week. Other crop areas have only light rain indicated.
