OMAHA (DTN) -- A still-low temperature trend in the central U.S., and widespread rain indicated for Brazil, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

COLD MIDWEST TREND

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for light precipitation episodes during the next seven days, which will allow continued progress of the much-delayed row crop harvest. Areas near the Ohio River and in the Delta will have rain to slow progress. Also, portions of the northern Midwest will see a round of snow to hinder activity. Cold conditions, with much below normal temperatures, will keep progress at a slow pace.

SHORT-TERM NORTHERN PLAINS SNOW

In the Northern Plains, light to moderate snow during the next two days will impede harvest. Drier conditions later this week will be more favorable for progress. Temperatures will remain much below normal.

SOUTHEASTERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Southern Plains, beneficial rain is forecast for wheat in Oklahoma and northern Texas. Colder and drier conditions are in store for Kansas and Colorado.

COLD FOR PRAIRIES HARVEST

The Canadian Prairies will have dry and cold conditions favoring harvest this week.

WIDESPREAD BRAZIL RAIN FORECAST

Showers and thunderstorms continue in the forecast throughout the primary Brazil crop areas. Soil moisture supplies are favorable for early development of row crops. Soybean planting is slightly ahead of average.

VARIABLE ARGENTINA RAIN

In Argentina, showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for western crop areas this week. This is much-need precipitation, and verification will be closely tracked.
