Harvest-Disrupting Rain
OMAHA (DTN) -- Wet conditions in the central United States, and continued rain potential in Brazil, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.
RAINY AND COOL IN MIDWEST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a wet and cool pattern to dominate the Midwest. The is unfavorable for maturing and harvesting corn and soybeans.
WET AND STORMY IN NORTHERN PLAINS
The Northern Plains has unfavorably wet weather for maturing and harvesting corn and soybeans. Some harvest losses due to snow and strong winds are expected.
IMPROVED SOUTHERN PLAINS OUTLOOK

Southern Plains crop areas have mostly favorable conditions for prewinter development of wheat in the forecast. Some beneficial precipitation is expected during the six-to-10-day period.
DRIER PRAIRIES TREND
In the Canadian Prairies, drier conditions in Alberta and Saskatchewan are favorable for harvesting canola and wheat. However, overall progress remains behind normal by 20 percentage points in Alberta and nearly 30 points in Saskatchewan. In the eastern Prairies, heavy rain and snow in Manitoba last week are unfavorable for the remaining harvest.
ADDITIONAL BRAZIL RAIN
Across Brazil, some beneficial showers and lower temperatures are expected during the next few days. Soybean planting is even with the average pace at 20% finished. South-central areas, notably the state of Parana, are drier with reduced progress.
LIGHT ARGENTINA RAIN
In Argentina, more rain would benefit corn planting is some central crop areas. Western areas need rain; however, very little is forecast this week.
MIXED AUSTRALIA MOISTURE
Across Australia, variable moisture conditions are indicated for winter wheat in West Australia. Southern and eastern areas have less moisture. The total wheat crop is reduced because of drought.
