Commodities Market Impact Weather
Cool and Unsettled Pattern
OMAHA (DTN) -- Unfavorable conditions for widespread U.S. harvest, and increasing rain potential in Brazil, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.
UNSETTLED MIDWEST PATTERN
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for an unsettled pattern for the Midwest. Temperatures will be on the low side, with periods of precipitation. This combination is unfavorable for maturing and harvesting crops.
WET TREND FOR NORTHERN CORN BELT
The northern Corn Belt has extensive crop damage from heavy rain and snow during the Oct. 10-12 time frame, along with a season-ending freeze. Additional significant precipitation is expected on Sunday.
ADDITIONAL SOUTHERN PLAINS DRYNESS
P[L1] D[0x0] M[300x250] OOP[F] ADUNIT[] T[]
Southern Plains' crop areas continue with mostly dry conditions during the next week. This is unfavorable for winter wheat soil moisture.
SLOW PRAIRIES HARVEST
The Canadian Prairies have a drier pattern for harvest through the coming weekend. However, harvest progress is much delayed; 20 percentage points behind average in Alberta, and nearly 30 percentage points behind average in Saskatchewan. Recent heavy rain and snow in Manitoba will also disrupt harvest in the eastern sector of the region.
CONTINUED BRAZIL RAIN FORECAST
The entire Brazil soybean belt has continued improved rain for soybean planting in the forecast for the next week.
LIGHT ARGENTINA RAIN
Argentina's crop areas have only light rain indicated in the forecast through the next week. This drier trend is notably unfavorable for developing wheat.
MINIMAL AUSTRALIA SHOWERS
Australia crop areas have only light rain indicated through the next week. Wheat production remains on track to be lower than a year ago because of drought.
