Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- A drier pattern in the Midwest, and improved rain for Brazil soybean planting, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

DRIER MIDWEST PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for drier conditions this week in the Midwest to allow some harvest progress. The 10-day pattern is also indicating drier conditions. Precipitation will concentrate in the eastern sector of the region. Temperatures will be milder following the freeze in western areas during the Oct. 11-13 weekend.

SLOW NORTHERN PLAINS HARVEST

Northern Plains' crop areas have extensive harvest disruption and crop damage following a large snowstorm during the past weekend. Drier conditions are forecast through the next week, offering some improvement in field and crop conditions. However, harvest will remain either slow or at a standstill.

FAVORABLE IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

Southern Plains' crop areas have drier conditions and warmer weather for winter wheat planting and early development during the balance of this week.

DRIER FOR PRAIRIES PATTERN

The Canadian Prairies have a drier pattern in store during the next week. This will improve harvest conditions.

VARIABLE BRAZIL RAIN

Across Brazil, Monday was hot and dry, with high temperatures reaching the low 100s Fahrenheit. The hotter and drier trend continues through the weekend. The six-to-10-day forecast indicates increasing showers and thundershowers for Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Parana by early next week. This will improve conditions for soybean planting.

IMPROVED ARGENTINA RAIN

Argentina crop areas have improved soil moisture for planting following rain during the past weekend. Temperatures are low for the season, but will be increasing during the next few days.

SCATTERED AUSTRALIA SHOWERS

Eastern Australia wheat areas have scattered rain showers ahead for the next two days. Wheat production remains on track to be short of last year's total because of drought.
