Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Rain for most northern and central U.S. crop areas, and a still-dry trend in central Brazil, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.

RAIN FOR MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for the Midwest to have moderate-to-heavy rain during the next seven days. Heaviest amounts will be in the western and northern sectors. This wet trend will be unfavorable for late-developing crops.

COOL AND WET IN NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, moderate-to-heavy rain over the next week will be unfavorable for maturing crops, and may cause an end to the already-delayed spring wheat harvest.

LIGHT SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Southern Plains, more rain is needed for the upcoming winter wheat planting season in many areas. Early drought has developed in southern sectors. The region will see only light rain during the next week.

HURRICANE DORIAN HEAVY RAIN

Category 1 Hurricane Dorian will bring heavy rain to the mid-Atlantic coast before moving away from the U.S. mainland.

RAIN FOR PRAIRIES

Southern Canadian Prairies crop areas are in line for moderate-to-heavy rain during the next week. These rains will keep late-developing crops lagging in their slow push toward maturity.

CENTRAL BRAZIL STAYS DRY

Ahead of the Sept. 15 soybean planting beginning in Brazil, central and northern Brazil crop areas remain dry through the next 10 days. This will cause some delay in the onset of planting in these high-production areas.

MINIMAL WESTERN EUROPE RAIN

Across Europe, rainfall potential remains low in west and south France during the next 10 days. Rainfall potential may be somewhat higher in England, through the Benelux countries and Germany during this period. Temperatures are mostly below normal during this period, slowing development of crops.

WARM AND DRY IN BLACK SEA REGION

In the Black Sea region, Russia and Ukraine continue with a warm and dry forecast through next week. This combination will generally favor crops in the filling stage.

MORE INDIA MONSOON RAIN

Monsoon rain remains moderate to heavy for west-central and northern India crop regions.

DRY AUSTRALIA FORECAST

Australia wheat areas have a dry forecast through the next week. This pattern will further reduce crop prospects in eastern wheat areas. Western Australia has more-favorable soil moisture at this point for its wheat crop.
