Partnership Creates Beef Market Access
Beef Co-op Partners With Genetic Sourcing Company
REDFIELD, Iowa (DTN) -- Legacy Beef Co-op, the supplier of cattle to Cattlemen's Heritage Beef Company, announced April 9 a partnership with Top Dollar Angus.
According to a news release from Top Dollar Angus, the collaboration aims to create awareness of Legacy Beef Co-op among Dollar Angus customers, offering them a unique opportunity to maximize profitability and market access.
Top Dollar Angus provides genetic certification of superior Angus feeder cattle, focusing on Angus and Red Angus cattle with top growth and carcass traits.

Legacy Beef Co-op is the supplier of beef for the Cattlemen's Heritage processing plant, which is to break ground in Mills County, Iowa, this year. The initiative, which launches in May, will allow new Top Dollar Customers and producers who join the Legacy Beef Co-op to take advantage of the benefits. The release notes a $10 per head payment will get members access to the grid benefits. The two hope this will help cattle producers find innovative marketing solutions and premium genetic verification.

"This partnership aligns with our mission to help producers achieve better returns while ensuring high-quality beef reaches the marketplace," he said.

Cattlemen's Heritage Beef Co. has been working on the proposed packing plant since it was first announced in 2021. The plant is a $520 million project that would process as many as 2,000 head of cattle per day and employ as many as 800 people. The 132-acre site where the plant is to be built is just south of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
