DTN Retail Fertilizer Trends

OMAHA (DTN) -- Retail fertilizer prices tracked by DTN for the second week of February 2025 continued to show most nutrients are more expensive with three fertilizers noticeably higher.

Six fertilizer prices are higher, while one was lower and one was unchanged from the prior month. DTN designates a significant move as anything 5% or more.

Urea was 9% higher compared to last month with an average price of $536/ton. UAN32 was 7% more expensive with an average price of $393/ton. UAN28 was 5% higher and had an average price of $342/ton.

Three other fertilizers were slightly more expensive looking back a month. DAP had an average price of $754/ton, 10-34-0 $638/ton and anhydrous $747/ton.

One fertilizer was slightly less expensive than a month ago. Potash had an average price of $442/ton.

One fertilizer was unchanged from last month. That nutrient was MAP and it had an average price of $809/ton.

On a price per pound of nitrogen basis, the average urea price was $0.58/lb.N, anhydrous $0.46/lb.N, UAN28 $0.61/lb.N and UAN32 $0.61/lb.N.

A new fertilizer project in Iraq has obtained government consent, according to fertilizerdaily.com. A fully integrated phosphate fertilizer complex in Anbar is being developed in collaboration with a private contractor.

The facility will be able to produce one million tons of DAP fertilizer annually as well as 500,000 tons of Triple Superphosphate (TSP). In addition, the facility will also manufacture sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and ammonia.

"This initiative is expected to leverage Iraq's ample phosphate reserves, bolstering economic security and self-reliance in fertilizer production," the article said.

More fertilizers are now higher in price compared to one year earlier. Both urea and UAN32 are 1% higher, both DAP and UAN28 are 2% more expensive and 10-34-0 is 5% higher looking back to last year.

The remaining three fertilizers are lower. MAP is 1% less expensive, anhydrous is 3% lower and potash is 12% less expensive compared to last year.
