"Pennsylvania is only 80% done harvesting corn, while Michigan is 85% harvested and Wisconsin 87% done," noted DTN Senior Analyst Dana Mantini.

Soybean harvest also moved ahead 4 percentage points to reach 96% complete as of Sunday, 3 percentage points ahead of the five-year average of 93%.

"Some of the states that are lagging in soybean harvest are North Carolina at 53%, Kentucky at 79% and Tennessee at 80% harvested," Mantini said.

Winter wheat planting gained 3 percentage points to reach 96% as of Sunday. That is 2 percentage points ahead of the five-year average of 94%. An estimated 85% of winter wheat had emerged, 1 percentage point ahead of the five-year average of 84%.

The condition of the winter wheat crop was estimated at 46% good to excellent, up 1 percentage point from 45% the previous week but still below 52% at the same time a year ago.

"That percentage of the crop rated very poor to poor rose by 2 points to 18% very poor to poor, compared to just 14% last year," Mantini said. "The Kansas crop is rated just 32% good to excellent with 23% rated very poor to poor."
