DTN Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Mixed Midwest harvest conditions, and a dry forecast in Australia wheat areas, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

HARVEST-DISRUPTING MIDWEST RAIN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for some improvement to harvest conditions in the northwestern Midwest, with less rain expected. However, rain will delay harvest progress in the southeastern Midwest. During the coming weekend, rain and harvest disruptions return to the northwestern Midwest.

FAVORABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS PATTERN

In the Southern Plains, mostly favorable conditions for planting winter wheat are in effect, following recent beneficial rains.

COLDER IN NORTHERN PLAINS

The Northern Plains will have improving conditions for harvesting with less rain and somewhat lower temperatures.

WETTER DELTA TREND

In the Delta, recent and forecasted rain will slow the harvest of corn and soybeans and the planting effort for winter wheat. Rain is also unfavorable for open boll cotton.

COLD IN PRAIRIES

The Canadian Prairies have a slow harvest week ahead due to colder weather and periods of mixed precipitation.

CENTRAL BRAZIL SHOWERS

In central Brazil, recent rainfall has allowed for some early soybean planting. Additional showers are indicated for this week.

EUROPE STORMS

Europe has seen a round of strong thunderstorms with high winds and heavy rain. This likely is causing problems for the harvest of summer crops and planting of winter grains and oilseeds. The rain does improve soil moisture following a hot and dry summer.

RUSSIA DRYNESS

In the Black Sea region, dryness is a continuing concern in winter grain areas of Central Region Russia and the Black Soils Region of Russia, as well as through the Volga valley.

WARMER FOR NORTHEAST CHINA

In northeast China, warmer-than-average temperatures and only light showers will favor crop ripening and harvest this week. The pattern turns more unsettled in the 10-day time frame.

MILD IN CENTRAL CHINA

Central China has a more-favorable period to harvest summer crops this week and for fieldwork to prepare for planting winter wheat and rapeseed.

INDIA LATE-MONSOON RAIN

Late-monsoon season storms turned northward over west India during the weekend. Very heavy rains were reported from east and North Maharashtra and west Madhya Pradesh to east Gujarat and through Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab India. This will provide a welcome boost to soil moisture and irrigation for winter crops planted in these areas. It should, mostly, help developing summer crops. However, local and severe flooding may be occurring.
