Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Mostly dry conditions for central U.S. harvest and variable precipitation forecasts in South America are 1key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

MOSTLY DRY FOR MIDWEST HARVEST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a dry pattern across the Midwest through the next three days. This combination remains favorable for crop ripening and harvest progress. Eastern Midwest areas will see rain from tropical system activity during the last half of the week.

WARM AND DRY IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

Southern Plains crop areas will be warm and dry through this week. This will be favorable for winter wheat planting and germination. However, drought is expected to expand across the entire region during the balance of this year.

MORE NORTHERN PLAINS WARMTH

In the Northern Plains, dry and warm conditions through the next week will benefit crop ripening and harvest. The drier trend will benefit livestock as well. Areas in drought are expected to continue in drought through the next three months.

TROPICAL DELTA RAIN

The Delta has moderate to heavy tropical rain forecast during this week. The rain will disrupt harvest and may damage open boll cotton.

MIXED RAIN FOR SOUTHEAST

The Southeast has a mixed rain pattern in the week ahead. The western portion of the region has possible heavy rain from tropical activity. Locally heavy rain may cause some damage to cotton. Eastern areas will have light rain ahead.

LIGHT CENTRAL BRAZIL RAIN

Central Brazil crop areas have mainly light rain forecast during this week. Widespread soybean planting is still expected to be delayed until late September at the earliest due to concern over the beginning of the rainy season. The average starting date for the beginning of the central Brazil rainy season in the past 30 years is September 26.

PROMISING ARGENTINA RAIN FORECAST

Argentina has moderate to locally heavy rain indicated in the forecast during the coming week. This would be beneficial for wheat along with row crop soil moisture. The rain verification will be closely watched.

LIGHT PRAIRIES RAIN

The Canadian Prairies have light rain and above normal temperatures in the seven-day forecast. This combination will favor harvest.

DRY RUSSIA FORECAST

Russia and Ukraine wheat areas have very little rain in the seven-day forecast. Wheat areas are in need of more moisture following a warm and dry pattern during the past several weeks; in many locales, 60-day rainfall has totaled no more than 50 percent of normal.

BENEFICIAL AUSTRALIA RAIN

Eastern Australia wheat areas received moderate to locally heavy rain in the past week, which was beneficial for wheat. Additional light showers are forecast during the next week. Western Australia has light rain indicated.
