Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- An improved prospect for Midwest rain and wheat yield questions in Russia due to dry conditions are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

RAIN PROSPECT IMPROVES IN MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for periods of showers and thunderstorms across the Midwest during the next week. This adds to rain from the past weekend and is favorable for pollinating corn and blooming soybeans. In addition, the temperature pattern is showing less extreme heat than the region incurred during the past week.

HOT AND DRY FOR SOUTHWEST PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, showers and thunderstorms remain in store for the eastern half of the region during this week. The western half of the region continued with a hot and dry pattern. This will continue to be stressful for dryland crops including cotton. Non-irrigated corn, pasture and livestock will also incur stress due to heat and dryness.

RAIN PERIODS FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains crop areas continue with periods of rain in the forecast for the next week. Rainfall combines with seasonal temperatures to benefit spring wheat and row crops.

SHOWERS AND HEAT FOR DELTA AND SOUTHEAST

Delta and Southeast crop areas have periods of showers and thunderstorms through the end of the week. These occurrences will maintain favorable crop prospects. Rain occurrences will be important due to a very warm-to-hot pattern also entering the scene during the week ahead.

SHOWERS AND COOL IN PRAIRIES

Showers and thunderstorms continue in the forecast for the Canadian Prairies. Precipitation from the storms may lead to some crop areas having excessive soil moisture. Temperatures will turn lower as well, leading to slower crop progress.

SHOWERS IN BLACK SEA REGION

In the Black Sea region, periods of rain are indicated to cross Ukraine and Russia over the next seven days. The rain occurrences will disrupt wheat harvest but will offer useful soil moisture for Ukraine corn and oilseed crops.

VARIABLE EUROPE RAIN

Light to locally moderate rain is indicated for Europe crop areas during the next seven days. The rain will favor summer crops but will hinder wheat harvest.

DRY FOR CENTRAL BRAZIL HARVEST

In central Brazil, Mato Grosso has another dry week ahead for safrinha corn harvest.

LIMITED ARGENTINA RAIN

Argentina crop areas have periods of rain ahead in the seven-day forecast. Some possible benefit may develop for wheat.

FAVORABLE AUSTRALIA FORECAST

Australia wheat areas continue with periods of showers through the coming week. This brings additional useful soil moisture for vegetative wheat.
