Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Periods of rain disrupting late harvest in the Midwest and Northern Plains, and favorable rain for drier areas of South America, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

PERIODIC MIDWEST PRECIPITATION

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for moderate rain to disrupt harvest progress in the northwestern Midwest this week. Later in the week, rain will move into the southern and eastern Midwest. Fall fieldwork delays are likely with this precipitation.

STILL SLOW FOR NORTHERN PLAINS HARVEST

In the Northern Plains, variable temperatures and light precipitation will keep harvest on a slow progression during the week. Ground condition for supporting harvest machinery is inconsistent, adding to harvest disruption.

SHOWERS FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS

Southern Plains crop areas will have milder weather during the next 10 days, generally favorable for winter wheat. Southern and eastern areas are in line for some useful showers during the next five days.

FAVORABLE BRAZIL CONDITIONS

Across Brazil, showers and thunderstorms this week in northern and eastern Mato Grosso and Goias will benefit developing soybeans. In the south, mostly dry weather this week will favor soybean planting in Rio Grande do Sul under adequate soil moisture.

ARGENTINA RAIN CHANCE

In Argentina, increasing showers during the next week will improve conditions for planting and developing corn and early soybean planting, especially later this week and this weekend when temperatures will also become lower. It is hot in some areas through Wednesday.

EUROPE FLOODING

In southern Europe, heavy rain continues in northern and central portions of the country. These areas have been under extreme flood risk recently, and this added rain will further complicate the situation. In addition to the risk to lives and property, there is also some impact likely to the winter grains in these areas.

ONGOING AUSTRALIA DROUGHT

There is again no significant rain in store for the next 10 days in drought-affected Australia wheat areas. Wheat prospects have been lowered due to drought. Drought has also intensified wildfires.

SOUTH AFRICA SHOWERS

South Africa's crop areas have favorable conditions following recent rainfall. Additional rain is forecast this week, along with variable temperatures.
