Chicago Spot Ethanol Steady as Corn Futures Pare Gains
Chicago spot ethanol prices were last seen unchanged versus a day ago as Chicago Board of Trade corn and ethanol futures moved off earlier highs and closely watched data was mixed on the week.
The Energy Information Administration reported PADD 2 Midwest ethanol supply declined 138,000 bbl during the week-ended May 25 despite a 1.6% gain in production and nearly 1% decrease in blending demand.
In the physical market, prompt delivered ethanol at the Kinder Morgan-operated Argo terminal in Chicago was assessed at $1.4550 per gallon after trading at $1.460 per gallon. Ethanol for this week shipment under Rule 11 rail terms was pegged flat on the session at $1.46 per gallon, down from an earlier trade at $1.47 per gallon.
