Spot Ethanol Prices Lifted by Demand, Higher Corn Futures
Spot ethanol prices traded higher Tuesday on increased short-term demand ahead of ethanol supply data due Wednesday from the Energy Information Administration, while also finding support from a modest advance by Chicago Board of Trade corn futures.
Prompt ethanol supply at the Argo hub in the Chicago cash market was talked at $1.625 per gallon, up 0.5 cents on, with any October supply ethanol at the same location trading at $1.61 per gallon.
Chicago ethanol supply traded under Rule 11 for prompt shipment was talked at a $1.595 to $1.615 per gallon bid/ask, rising 1.0 cent on the session. Barges of ethanol in the Houston Ship Channel were talked at $1.67 per gallon, up 1.5 cents, while New York Harbor barges were pegged at $1.67 per gallon following an offer at $1.69 per gallon, up 0.5 cents.
