Spot Ethanol Prices Rally on Lower Supplies

Spot ethanol prices rallied 2.0 cents to 6.0 cents Wednesday after the Energy Information Administration reported domestic ethanol stocks were drawn down 200,000 bbl to a nine-month low of 20.0 million bbl during the week-ended Sept. 16. Domestic production fell 23,000 bpd, or 2.3%, to 981,000 bpd.

Prompt ethanol supply at the Argo hub in the Chicago market traded 2.5 cents higher at $1.56 per gallon. Chicago ethanol under Rule 11 terms for this week shipment traded 2.0 cents higher at $1.54 per gallon. New York Harbor September barges were bid 6.0 cents higher at $1.60 per gallon. Northern California prompt shipments were seen 5.0 cents higher at $1.69 per gallon and Arizona spot prices were seen up 2.0 cents at $1.63 per gallon.
