Spot Ethanol Prices Nosedive as Corn Futures Plunge

Cash ethanol prices posted steep losses Monday amid a selloff in the broader equity and commodity markets, with corn and RBOB futures both under pressure in tracking the turmoil in the stock market. At the Argo terminal near Chicago, prompt cash ethanol traded at $1.435 gallon, down 6.0 cents. Chicago swaps traded at $1.43 gallon, down 6.0 cents. August ethanol barges at the New York Harbor changed hands early at $1.535, $1.51 and $1.505 gallon for a loss of 7.0 cents. This week, ethanol shipment in California and Arizona both traded at $1.61 gallon for a 4.0-cent loss in the Bay area.
