Spot Ethanol Prices Gain on Expected Demand Improvement

Spot ethanol prices edged up in Chicago and New York Tuesday ahead of weekly supply data to be issued Wednesday. Demand for ethanol and gasoline are expected to improve as we move through spring and head into the peak summer driving season, although recent data have been mixed.

April delivered ethanol at Argo near Chicago traded at $1.605 gallon, up 1.0cts on the session so far. Chicago ethanol traded under Rule 11 for this week shipment was up 2.5cts at a $1.62 gallon offer. New York Harbor May delivered ethanol barges were pegged at $1.70 gallon, up 2.0cts on the day.
