Spot Ethanol Prices Higher as Supply Declines

Spot ethanol prices were mostly higher early Wednesday after new federal data showed U.S. ethanol supplies eased off a three-year high as output by domestic plants declined while blending demand edged a tad higher.

The Energy Information Administration's report for the week-ended Feb. 27 detailed supplies were drawn down 100,000 bbl to 21.5 million bbl. Prompt Argo ethanol traded at $1.47 per gallon for a 3-cents gain while New York Harbor barges was penciled up a penny at $1.57 per gallon. Arizona ethanol traded 2-cents higher at $1.66 per gallon while northern California spot ethanol was offered at $1.68 per gallon.
