Spot Ethanol Climbs on Plant Outages, Shipping Delays

U.S. spot ethanol prices rose in Chicago and New York amid talk two ethanol plants in Iowa had mechanical problems that could keep them shut and reduce domestic production, while snowy weather in the Midwest and Northeast could slow product shipments. Prompt ethanol at Argo hub near Chicago was talked at a $1.40 to $1.43 per gallon bid/ask, up 1.0 cent. Chicago Rule 11 ethanol for this week shipment traded at $1.45 per gallon, up 2.0 cents. New York Harbor February barged ethanol was discussed at a $1.52 to $1.56 per gallon bid/ask for a gain of 4.0 cents.
