Imports Pressure Drops Some U.S. Spot Ethanol, Biodiesel Prices
Imports of biofuels into the United States eased supply concerns in some key regional trade hubs and pressured the spot prices of ethanol and biodiesel lower in New York and Houston, respectively, sources said. Midweek federal data showed 14,000 bpd of ethanol was shipped to the East Coast during the week-ended Sept. 27.
A report from Brazil said the country's ethanol exports are up 10% from last year, with most coming to the U.S. A trade source today said the "Houston (biodiesel market) is different, with a lot of imports coming in." Thus, New York Harbor ethanol was talked slightly weaker today at $2.10 gallon, while Houston spot biodiesel was talked 10 cents lower at $1.55 gallon.
