D6 RIN Prices Soar as Demand Spikes on Ethanol Supply Fears

U.S. spot ethanol prices were little changed in thin early trade Monday, while the market for ethanol compliance credits continued to rally, posting daily gains of as much as 9 cents as worries about low ethanol supply stirred demand, a trade source said.

The source expects U.S. data for the week-ended July 12 will likely show a drawdown in domestic supply as seasonal demand trends higher. D6 Renewable Identification Numbers for 2013 traded early at $1.25 and then at $1.28 and $1.29 a short while ago, up 9.0 cents on the day, with 2012 not talked much though a source pegged it at $1.27.
