Outside the offices of DTN/The Progressive Farmer, thoughts are focused on harvest, elections, and whose turn is it to have opening morning in the best deer stand. Not necessarily in that order.

Around our shop, efforts are on putting the final touches on this year's DTN Ag Summit, Dec. 3-5 in Chicago. It promises to be three days filled with opportunities to hear from some of the leading thinkers in agriculture, to consider new opportunities for your operation, and to rub elbows with like-minded farmers from around the country.

This is the 11th annual Ag Summit, and each year we wonder how we'll top the last one. This year's event will not disappoint.

If you've attended in the past, you know we shoot for a balance between speakers that make you think about the industry around you, workshop sessions that produce plenty of take-home business ideas, along with fun and comradery in a city known for getting all dressed up for the holidays. This year's event, once again at the Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park hotel will have all of that in spades.

Our theme this year, The Power of Actionable Insights, follows up on a phrase we first brought to farmers in 2017 -- that notion DTN isn't just focused on passing along information -- our focus is on making those ideas actionable, things you can implement right away that will make a positive difference in your operation.

We've added to the "actionable" side of the event by expanding the smaller group breakout sessions, a move that came from audience suggestions. Those sessions will hit on tax and business planning, grain marketing ideas for the year ahead, how to move from being the boss to being a leader, and many others. The breakouts will rotate so that you can hit several sessions through the day.

Over the years, we've also seen a jump in the number of multiple attendees from a family or operation. So we've designed the breakouts that your team can divide and conquer to hit all of the topics, with lots of time for circling back and sharing what you've learned with other farm members.

Note that the Early Bird registration deadline is Nov. 21, so act fast to get the best discounts. Registration information is also on that DTNAgSummit.com site.
