Pakistan Fires Rockets at Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- An Afghan official says Pakistan has fired nearly 200 rockets across the border into the northeastern Kunar province, killing one person and forcing nearly 300 residents to flee.

Provincial government spokesman Abdul Ghani Musamim reported the attack late Tuesday. Pakistani officials were not immediately available for comment.

Afghanistan and Pakistan have long accused each other of failing to crack down on militants operating along the porous border.

Elsewhere in Afghanistan, the Taliban attacked two security posts in the central Ghazni province, killing four policemen. Provincial government spokesman Arif Noori says three other police were wounded in the attacks late Tuesday.

The Taliban control or have a presence in large swathes of the province.
