Commodities Market Impact Weather
Additional Midwest Rain
OMAHA (DTN) -- Continued rain for the Midwest and periods of rain for the Southern Plains are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.
MORE RAIN FOR MIDWEST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for heavy rainfall from the past weekend in the central Midwest to move east early this week. Intermittent showers follow this heavy rain event. Many areas have seen flooding from the system and planting has been disrupted. Otherwise, the rain was beneficial to emerging crops. Showers remain in the eastern portions of the region through the week, causing delays to planting. A slow-moving storm system will bring additional moderate-to-heavy rain chances late in the week through early next week, mostly in the west.
VARIABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN
Rain is expected over most of the Southern Plains during the next seven days. Drier areas of the southwest Plains have had some rains recently, but more is needed. A slow-moving trough will bring periods of rainfall to the entire region Wednesday-Sunday, including drier sections, benefiting developing to reproductive wheat. Wetter weather will continue in the eastern Plains next week.
SHOWERS FOR NORTHERN PLAINS
Northern Plains crop areas have a short period of drier and warmer conditions. Multiple rounds of rain are indicated Tuesday through Sunday. This will be beneficial to emerging crops but will lead to planting delays and prevented planting questions.

DRIER TREND FOR DELTA
The Delta had moderate showers over the weekend. A generally drier pattern is forecast during this week.
SCATTERED SOUTHEAST RAIN
Southeastern U.S. crop areas have scattered rain in store during the next seven days. The rain will bring minimal dryness easing.
FAVORABLE BLACK SEA CONDITIONS
Overall, Black Sea region conditions are favorable for developing to reproductive winter grains and emerging summer crops. Periods of scattered showers have been more noticeable in Ukraine than southern Russia, but periods of showers will continue in the region over the next seven-to-10 days.
MIXED EUROPE RAIN PROSPECTS
Across Europe, rain has increased across the north and east and looks to be on the increase for the southeast this week. Dryness is notable in the northwest. However, some showers will move through this region this week as well.
VARIABLE BRAZIL RAIN
Brazil central and northern crop areas had little dryness easing from showers in the past week. Rainfall this week will be variable, with heavy amounts indicated for southern areas and much lighter in northern areas.
HIGHER ARGENTINA RAIN CHANCE
Argentina central crop areas have moderate rain in the forecast during the mid- to late-week time frame.
FAVORABLE AUSTRALIA MOISTURE
Australia wheat areas have adequate moisture for wheat seeding and early crop development. Western Australia areas could use some additional precipitation.
