OMAHA (DTN) -- A new round of rain to disrupt fieldwork in the western Midwest, and limited benefit from scattered showers in the Southern Plains, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Thursday.

MIDWEST SHOWERS

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a new round of moderate to locally heavy rain in the northwestern Midwest during the next several days. The rain will bring a new round of planting disruption. Elsewhere in the region, conditions are favorable for early crop development.

SCATTERED SOUTHERN PLAINS SHOWERS

In the Southern Plains, winter wheat crop conditions remain poor in many western areas. Late-week showers are indicated for scattered areas of the region, mainly in Kansas. Overall benefit will be marginal.

SHOWERS AHEAD FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, a round of light to moderate rain is in store during the last part of the week. The moisture will disrupt planting, but will also be beneficial as drought recovery is still needed.

SHOWERS FOR DELTA

The Delta and Southeast have a round of showers expected over the next few days. Amounts will be light to moderate in the Delta, and moderate to locally heavy in the Southeast. Rainfall will generally be favorable for crop moisture.

PRAIRIES MOISTURE FORMS

Canadian Prairies crop areas have some favorable rain showers forming during the last of the week. This moisture is useful due to dryness in several locales.

BRAZIL SHOWERS

Central Brazil continues with light to moderate rain. Rain will be timely for the second-crop (safrinha) corn, already expected to be lower in production than a year ago because of heat and dryness.

STILL DRY IN AUSTRALIA

Australia's wheat areas continue with very little rain forecast through the next week. Soil moisture is especially short in the western wheat areas. Producers are seeding into dry ground.
