U.S. Winter Storm for Weekend
OMAHA (DTN) -- A strong winter storm for the northern Midwest this coming weekend, and a beneficial South America trend, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.
MIXED WEEKEND MIDWEST SYSTEM
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for mild conditions in the Midwest through the first half of the upcoming Christmas holiday weekend. A major storm system moves through the western and northern Midwest Sunday with a combination of rain and snow. Heavy snow is indicated for the northwestern portion of the region.
DRYNESS CONTINUES IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, dry conditions continue to rule the scene, especially in western areas. A winter storm system during the coming holiday weekend offers some rain chances in eastern areas.
NORTHERN PLAINS WEEKEND STORM CHANCE
In the Northern Plains, a major winter storm system is indicated for the upcoming holiday weekend, mainly Sunday into Monday. Western and northern areas are in line for heavy snow of 12 inches (30.5 centimeters) or greater. Eastern and southern areas have light to moderate rain and mixed wintry precipitation in store. Areas with heavy snow will cause stress to livestock and transportation.
BENEFICIAL BRAZIL PATTERN
Across Brazil, generally favorable conditions for developing crops remain in effect.
VARIABLE ARGENTINA TREND
In central Argentina, timely and beneficial rain during the next five days will favor developing corn and soybeans.
