OMAHA (DTN) -- A mild crop weather pattern in Brazil, and a colder forecast for the central U.S. are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

MIDWEST SNOW AND COLD

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for episodes of cold and snowy weather to cause transportation disruptions and increase feed usage for livestock in the Midwest the rest of this week.

DRY AND COLD IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, cold weather has brought the wheat crop into dormancy. No damaging cold is expected. More precipitation would benefit crops in western areas.

BITTER COLD FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, episodes of extreme cold weather will maintain high stress levels for livestock during the next five days. There does not, at this time, appear to be any major snow events during the next seven days.

WEEKEND SOUTHEAST RAIN

In the southern and southeastern U.S., recent moderate to heavy rain or thunderstorms through the southern and eastern Delta and the southeast states will help to ease drought conditions. Significant precipitation is expected to redevelop at the end of this week and during the coming weekend.

FAVORABLE BRAZIL CONDITIONS

Across Brazil, mostly favorable conditions for development of early planted corn and soybeans are still in effect at this time.

SHOWERS AND HEAT IN ARGENTINA

In central Argentina, a fairly hot day Monday was followed by scattered thunderstorms overnight into early Tuesday. It may again turn quite hot later this week ahead of another cold front. The early call is for heavier and more widespread thunderstorms early next week. If verified, then the hot weather this week will not mean much, so this will be an important system.

SHOWERS FOR SOUTH AFRICA

In South Africa, early-season rainfall has provided favorable soil moisture for planting and early development. Episodes of scattered showers and warm weather during this week will favor development of early planted crops. Planting in western growing areas is still in very early stages at this time.
