EIA: Domestic Ethanol Output Hit New Record High Last Week

OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- Overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.119 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended Nov. 22, a fresh record high, up 9,000 bpd week-on-week, the Energy Information Administration reports. Domestic ethanol production for the week was 108,000 bpd, or 9.7%, higher than in the same week last year while four-week average output at 1.112 million bpd was 81,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.048 million bpd, up 10,000 bpd week-on-week and 98,000 bpd, or 9.4%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.045 million bpd was 73,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 890,000 bpd, down 2,000 bpd week-on-week and 19,000 bpd, or 2.1%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average blending demand at 902,000 bpd was 13,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Blender inputs at the East Coast were up 2,000 bpd on the week while inputs in the Midwest were down 2,000 bpd, up 1,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and down 4,000 bpd on the West Coast.

Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 22.869 million bbl, up 306,000 bbl week-on-week and 1.49 million bbl, or 6.5%, higher than in the same week last year.

East Coast PADD 1 inventories ended the week at 7.14 million bbl, down 124,000 bbl week-on-week and 722,000 bbl, or 10.1%, higher than in the same week last year.

Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 8.937 million bbl, up 343,000 bbl week-on-week and 205,000 bbl, or 2.3%, higher than in the same week last year.

Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventories ended the week at 4.174 million bbl, down 11,000 bbl week-on-week and 489,000 bbl, or 11.7%, higher than in the same week last year.

West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.228 million bbl, up 88,000 bbl week-on-week and 3,000 bbl, or 0.1%, lower than in the same week last year.
