The latest weekly state crop reports continue to indicate increasing issues with excessive wetness in the northwest Midwest and Northern Plains.

The wettest weather is centered around Minnesota, which is reporting issues with mold in corn and soybeans along with stalk rot in corn. The eastern Dakotas and northern Iowa are reporting some standing water in fields along with some disease issues. Iowa has reported above normal rains in 10 of the past 13 weeks.

All of these areas are reporting some disruptions to the early harvest as well.

In the eastern Midwest, Indiana is reporting high moisture corn along with some mold and ear rot. Despite these issues, crop ratings are virtually unchanged from last week and remain quite high in Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois. The outlook calls for episodes of wet weather to continue in the northwest Midwest during the next seven days. The eastern Midwest is only expected to see limited rainfall.

Winter wheat planting is picking up in the Southern Plains and is running at or ahead of normal. With mostly adequate soil moisture at this time and the prospects for more rain over the weekend we would expect to see a well-established winter wheat crop this fall.

Above-normal temperatures and limited rainfall in the Delta and Southeast states favor maturing corn and soybeans and the harvest with the corn harvest nearing completion. However, there are some reports in the north Delta that late planted double-cropped soybeans could use more rain for filling.
