President Donald Trump spoke last year at the 99th American Farm Bureau meeting. He noted then that speaking at the 100th meeting would be better.

President Donald Trump will speak Monday at the American Farm Bureau Federation's 100th annual meeting in New Orleans.

The White House confirmed to the New Orleans Advocate that the president will speak. Louisiana Farm Bureau President Ronnie Anderson also confirmed to USA Today Network that the president will speak as well. "It's a tremendous opportunity for us to showcase the value of Louisiana agriculture to the rest of the country," Anderson said.

It will mark the second straight year Trump has spoken at the AFBF meeting, and he remarked at last year's that he was disappointed to hear it was the 99th annual meeting. "You understand, 100 is so much cooler, I have to be honest. So I will be back next year," Trump said at the time.

The government is currently in the midst of a partial shutdown over funding for a border wall. Talks again broke down on Wednesday, so it's possible Trump will be addressing farmers while still gridlocked with Congress over the shutdown.
