OMAHA (DTN) -- A winter storm system for the central U.S., and generally beneficial conditions in South America, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.

WET MIDWEST PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for rain and snow in the central, eastern and southern Midwest through the weekend. This storm system will hinder late harvest. Northern portions of the Midwest will be drier, with better conditions for finishing harvest.

SOUTHERN PLAINS SNOW

In the Southern Plains, a mix of rain and snow will cover northern and east-central areas through Saturday, offering additional soil moisture. Other sectors of the region will be dry; however, soil moisture supplies are favorable ahead of winter.

ADDITIONAL BRAZIL RAIN

Brazil crop areas are in line for additional moderate to heavy rainfall. Soil moisture will continue to be adequate to surplus for crops.

LIGHT ARGENTINA PRECIPITATION FORECAST

In central Argentina, lighter precipitation is forecast through the next week. This feature will be more favorable for planting.

WEEKEND EASTERN AUSTRALIA RAIN

In eastern Australia, moderate to heavy rainfall occurred in northern New South Wales and southern Queensland during the past 48 hours. Rainfall will favor development of sorghum and cotton, but will disrupt the remaining winter wheat harvest. The cool and wetter pattern will also move into southeastern Australia, hindering wheat ripening and harvest.

COOLER SOUTH AFRICA TREND

South Africa crop areas have a cooler weather trend through the weekend. The next chance for rainfall is indicated during the middle of next week.
