OMAHA (DTN) -- An improving pattern for late-stage Midwest harvest, and ongoing beneficial rainfall in South America crop areas, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

PATTERN IMPROVES FOR MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for an improving weather pattern for Midwest harvest over the next week to 10 days. Colder but mainly drier conditions are in store after early-week precipitation. This will favor later-stage row crop harvest.

BENEFICIAL SOUTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE

In the Southern Plains, soil moisture is beneficial for development of winter wheat. The pattern is mainly dry over the coming week, which will be more favorable for later-stage seeding.

NORTHERN PLAINS SNOW

In the Northern Plains, a round of snow and rain through the weekend will disrupt harvest. Snow is most likely over western portions of the region.

ADDITIONAL BRAZIL RAIN

Brazil crop areas have more favorable rainfall ahead over the next week for planting and development of the 2018-19 soybean crop. Soybean planting is at a record pace, reportedly at 60% complete; 17 percentage points more than a week ago and well ahead of the 41% average pace. Comment is now being made of possible harvest beginning in December.

USEFUL ARGENTINA MOISTURE

In central Argentina, moisture is adequate for planting and early crop development. Some additional rain is indicated during the coming week. Wheat areas did not get cold enough during the past weekend to bring on frost conditions.

NORTHERN EUROPE SHOWER CHANCE

In Europe, shower chances this week favor England, France and northern Germany. Winter grains will benefit.

FAVORABLE BLACK SEA CONDITIONS

Ukraine and Russia have a drier pattern in place. This is favorable for the final harvest effort for summer crops. Soil moisture and temperatures, in most cases, are beneficial for development of winter grains.

CENTRAL CHINA SHOWERS

Central China crop areas have scattered showers in store this week, favorable for winter grains and oilseeds.

MIXED SOUTH AFRICA FORECAST

In South Africa, conditions were mainly dry and warm during the past weekend, improving planting progress. Scattered thundershowers are in store for north and east areas early this week.
