OMAHA (DTN) -- Heavy rain in store for the eastern Midwest, and additional beneficial rainfall in South America crop areas, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Thursday.

DISRUPTIVE EASTERN MIDWEST RAIN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls again for heavy rain over the next week in the eastern Midwest. The rain will disrupt fieldwork and final corn harvest. Light rain is in store for the western Midwest, causing some interruptions in progress as well.

BENEFICIAL SOUTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE

In the Southern Plains, soil moisture supplies remain well-stocked for winter wheat development. A mostly drier pattern through the weekend will be favorable for additional wheat sowing along with row crop harvest.

SNOW FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, a round of snow and rain through the weekend will disrupt harvest. Snow is most likely over western portions of the region.

MORE BRAZIL RAIN

Brazil crop areas have more favorable conditions for planting and development of the 2018-19 soybean crop. Moderate to heavy rain over the next week will favor soil moisture supplies.

ARGENTINA RAIN

In central Argentina, recent moderate to heavy rainfall has improved soil moisture and will favor development of early planted crops. A somewhat drier trend will allow for improving conditions for planting.

EUROPE SHOWER CHANCE

In Europe, cooler and wetter conditions remain in the forecast through the weekend. This moisture chance will be closely watched following a dry summer.

SOUTH AFRICA SHOWERS

Scattered thunderstorms have formed in South Africa’s crop areas, bringing a stretch of heat and dryness to an end.
