OMAHA (DTN) -- An unsettled Midwest pattern featuring rain and cool weather, and a continued dry forecast in Australia wheat areas, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

SHOWERS AND COOL IN MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for only brief drying in the northwestern Midwest this week. Meanwhile, rain delays harvest progress in southeast areas this week, and rain returns to disrupt northern areas by late week.

FAVORABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS PATTERN

In the Southern Plains, lower temperatures are indicated for the rest of the week. This trend, along with recent rain, is beneficial for winter wheat. Planting of the winter wheat crop is ahead of average.

COLDER IN NORTHERN PLAINS

The Northern Plains will have a drier and colder pattern the rest of this week, offering generally favorable conditions for harvest.

DELTA RAIN AHEAD

In the Delta, additional rain will slow the harvest of corn and soybeans and the planting effort for winter wheat. Rain is also unfavorable for open boll cotton.

COLD SLOWS PRAIRIES HARVEST

The Canadian Prairies continued with a slow harvest week ahead due to colder weather and periods of mixed precipitation.

SHOWERS FOR CENTRAL BRAZIL

In central Brazil, recent rainfall has allowed for some early soybean planting. Additional showers continue to be in the forecast for this week, offering more planting opportunities.

LIGHT RUSSIA SHOWERS

In the Black Sea region, dryness is a continuing concern in winter grain areas of Central Region Russia and the Black Soils Region of Russia, as well as through the Volga valley. Scattered showers this week are indicated, offering some moisture benefit.

AUSTRALIA STAYS DRY

Wheat areas of Australia have only very light rain showers forecast over the next week. Dryness, along with recent freeze conditions, lead to declines in production estimates.
