DTN Market Impact Weather
Heavy Western Midwest Rain
OMAHA (DTN) -- Heavy rain in the western Midwest, and further dryness in the Black Sea region, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.
VARIABLE MIDWEST RAIN
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for heavy rain for another couple days in the western and north-central Midwest. This heavy rain favors late-filling soybeans, but is unfavorable for maturing corn and will disrupt early harvest efforts. Flooding of fields is also a threat with this heavy rain. Meanwhile, the pattern is more favorable for crop ripening and early harvest in the eastern and southern Midwest.
WIDESPREAD SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN
Southern Plains areas have widespread moderate to heavy rain in store through the balance of this week. The rain is favorable for filling soybeans, and increases soil moisture for upcoming wheat planting.
MILD NORTHERN PLAINS TREND
The Northern Plains have mostly favorable conditions at this time for the harvest of wheat and early-maturing corn and soybeans.

HEAVY DELTA RAIN
In the Delta, heavy rain due to post-tropical storm Gordon is in store, along with strong winds. This is unfavorable for open-boll cotton and maturing row crops; harvest disruption is likely.
WEST TEXAS SHOWERS
West Texas crop areas will continue to see showers and thundershowers through the rest of this week. The rain will improve soil moisture, but may be unfavorable for open-boll cotton.
BENIGN NORTHERN PLAINS TREND
In the Northern Plains, seasonal temperatures and periods of showers are favorable for late-season row crop development. Spring wheat harvest is into its final stage.
HEAT AND DRYNESS IN RUSSIA
Russia and Ukraine have continued dry and hot conditions, which lead to dry soils and unfavorable conditions for planting the next winter wheat crop.
LIMITED EASTERN AUSTRALIA RAIN
Eastern Australia has a round of moderate rainfall forecast for coastal areas over the next week. However, little to any precipitation is indicated for major crop areas. Drought continues to reduce wheat crop prospects.
MIXED INDIA RAIN PATTERN
The India monsoon remains active over north-central and northeast India at this time but has weakened elsewhere in the region. The Ganges Plain will benefit from additional shower and thunderstorm activity during the next five days. The west-central crop belt will be on the edge of this activity.
