DTN Market Impact Weather
Pattern Stays Favorable
OMAHA (DTN) -- A still-favorable Midwest pattern, and dry conditions across the Black Sea region, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.
STILL FAVORABLE IN MIDWEST
The DTN ag weather forecast again calls for a favorable weather pattern for developing corn and soybeans during the next seven to 10 days. Adequate soil moisture is expected to be maintained, despite episodes of above- to much-above-normal temperatures.
MORE SOUTHERN PLAINS HEAT
In the Southern Plains, hot weather and limited rainfall continue to stress immature winter wheat and summer crops over Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, while favoring early wheat harvest.
HEAT THREAT TO WEST TEXAS COTTON

Dryland cotton areas in west Texas have a threat of major losses due to persistent hot and dry weather.
MILD IN NORTHERN PLAINS
Northern Plains' crop areas have generally favorable conditions for development of spring wheat, corn and soybeans.
FAVORABLE CANADIAN PRAIRIES RAIN
In the Canadian Prairies, recent moderate to heavy showers provided much-needed moisture for spring crop establishment in previously dry locations in eastern Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Lighter rainfall also benefited emerging spring grains and oilseeds in Alberta, which had recently been trending dry.
VERY LITTLE BLACK SEA RAIN
Russia and Ukraine wheat has mostly favorable current conditions. However, yield oHprospects have been trimmed by recent early season heat and increasing short-term dryness (less than 50% of normal during the past 60 days) over western and southern growing areas.
SCATTERED NORTHEAST CHINA RAIN
In northeast China, showers in portions of the region provided some relief from recent hot conditions and increased soil moisture for emerging corn and soybeans. However, key crop areas in Heilongjiang would benefit from more rainfall to aid crop establishment.
INDIA MONSOON WAIT
Cotton and oilseed producers in India’s central and western states await the onset of monsoon rainfall before beginning widespread planting.
