The DTN ag weather forecast calls for central Argentina to remain dry with very warm to hot weather over the next seven days. This pattern will greatly increase stress on reproductive and filling corn and soybeans. It now appears likely that yield potential for both crops will be declining until rain chances increase or temperatures decrease.

RAIN AGAIN IN CENTRAL BRAZIL

Central Brazil again has heavy rain in store through the next five to seven days. The persistent moisture will favor filling soybeans but will be unfavorable to maturing soybeans and the harvest. Harvest progress in Mato Grosso is currently running behind last year's pace. Southern Brazil is drier, but has favorable soil moisture supplies at this time.

DROUGHT SPREADS IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

Dry conditions remain well in place over the Southern Plains. The U.S. Drought Monitor shows that more than 60% of Kansas is now in some stage of drought, an increase in coverage of more than 10 percentage points from a week ago. In addition, extreme drought is spreading through the western Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle areas. There is no significant precipitation in sight, although some may see a little snow or snow showers at times.

COLD WAVE FOR NORTHERN PLAINS

Northern Plains and northern Midwest areas have a strong cold wave beginning Thursday and continuing through the next 10 days to two weeks. Overnight low temperatures of 8 to 18 degrees below zero Fahrenheit are indicated over North Dakota and northern Minnesota. Lows may fall below zero F as far south as northern Iowa.

SOUTH AFRICA RAIN

South Africa corn areas have beneficial rain and favorable temperatures in store through the next seven days.
