OMAHA (DTN) -- Lingering dry conditions in Argentina, and mixed rainfall trends in Brazil, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.

ARGENTINA HEAT AND DRYNESS

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for limited rainfall and near to above normal temperatures in Argentina through the next week. This pattern will decrease soil moisture and increase stress on developing corn and soybeans, especially pollinating corn. The next chance of any beneficial rain will be on Saturday, but may be a disappointing event.

MIXED BRAZIL RAIN PATTERN

Across Brazil, southern areas have favorable conditions for developing soybeans. Drier conditions in central Brazil favor maturing soybeans and the early harvest. However, the drier pattern does deplete soil moisture for filling soybeans. Rainfall is expected to increase during the period Friday to Monday.

NO PRECIP FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS

Dry conditions remain in the Southern Plains, with no significant precipitation in sight. No damaging cold weather is indicated during the next seven days. Much colder weather is in store later next week.

VARIABLE NORTHERN PLAINS FORECAST

Northern Plains and western Midwest areas will see dry conditions with near to above normal temperatures during the next seven days. This combination will be favorable for transportation and livestock. A turn to much colder weather is expected later next week.

RAIN HEADED FOR SOUTH AFRICA

In South Africa, beneficial rain for developing maize is indicated during the next seven days.
