Commodities Market Impact Weather
Variable Central US Rain Outlook
OMAHA (DTN) -- Wide variability in central U.S. rain prospects and more withering dryness in Brazil are the primary weather features for the commodity market's attention Friday.
WARMER AND STORMY IN MIDWEST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for the Midwest to see a warming trend during the next week. This warmer pattern will be favorable for summer crop germination and early growth. The warmer weather will be accompanied by an active storm pattern. Rainfall totals are expected to be moderate to heavy over the central and southern sectors of the region. Recently drier northern areas have light to moderate amounts in store. Lightest totals are expected to be in the immediate Great Lakes area.
ADDITIONAL SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN
Southern Plains crop areas have improved soil moisture following recent showers. Temperatures below normal will rise back up to normal for this weekend. More widespread showers are expected this weekend through next week as an upper level low stalls in the region. This will continue to increase soil moisture. Temperatures will remain near to slightly below normal.
CHRONIC NORTHERN PLAINS DRYNESS

In the Northern Plains, damaging drought remains the main weather feature. The next five days remain mainly dry. In addition, temperatures turning to well-above normal levels will further extract moisture. The six- to 10-day forecast suggests a chance for no more than light to moderate rainfall.
WET DELTA PATTERN
The Delta has moderate to heavy rain in store through the next seven days. This will generally be favorable for crop progress. Temperatures will be seasonal.
LIGHT SOUTHEAST PRECIPITATION
The southeastern U.S. has mainly light rainfall ahead during the next week. This drier pattern will be favorable for crop progress.
DRY AGAIN IN PRAIRIES
The Canadian Prairies have no more than isolated showers ahead through the next week. General dryness and drought continue, including extreme drought conditions in eastern areas according to the Canada Drought Monitor. A system in during late next week does offer the prospect for light to moderate precipitation and will be closely tracked.
DAMAGING BRAZIL DROUGHT
Withering heat and drought remain in effect over central Brazil. The next meaningful chance for precipitation comes at the end of next week. Rainfall will be too late to improve yield potential.
MINIMAL ARGENTINA RAINFALL
Argentina continues with no more than light rain in the seven-day forecast. The dry conditions favor row crop harvest.
