OMAHA (DTN) -- Rain forecast for most of the central United States and favorable conditions indicated across South America are the primary weather features for the commodity market's attention Monday.

WIDESPREAD MIDWEST RAIN FORECAST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a rainy week ahead in the Midwest. Early fieldwork will be delayed. However, the rain will offer additional soil moisture ahead of spring planting. Even the driest areas of northwestern Iowa will benefit from this week's active pattern.

ADDITIONAL SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Southern Plains, three storm systems during this week will provide additional moderate to heavy precipitation for much of the region. Recent heavy rainfall has eliminated or eased drought for much of the region. Showers this week will offer more easing of drought. Winter wheat that has broken dormancy finds generally favorable conditions.

MINIMAL NORTHERN PLAINS PRECIPITATION

Northern Plains had only scattered showers during the past weekend. Drought has eased in South Dakota but continues to increase elsewhere. A system early this week will bring moderate showers to eastern South Dakota, but most areas will see light or no precipitation through this weekend.

NEW STORMS FOR DELTA

The Delta will have a new set of stormy conditions form during this week. This follows a drier period during the past few days which was favorable for fieldwork. Storms will bring a threat of heavy rain with disruption to planting progress.

DRY CENTRAL BRAZIL FORECAST

Southern Brazil had moderate to heavy rain during the past weekend. This is favorable for corn and soybeans ahead of harvest. Elsewhere, a drier pattern is favorable for soybean harvest progress along with planting of the safrinha corn crop.

BENEFICIAL ARGENTINA RAIN

Northern and central Argentina crop areas had beneficial rainfall during the past weekend. Another system later this week will provide more widespread moderate to heavy showers to the country for filling crops.
