OMAHA (DTN -- A more promising outlook for needed rainfall in Brazil soybean areas and variable precipitation conditions in primary Northern Hemisphere wheat regions are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

WEEKEND MIDWEST RAIN

The DTN Ag Weather forecast calls for some disruption to row-crop harvest due to thunderstorms that moved through the western and northern Midwest Sunday night and Monday. Other crop areas had drier conditions with limited harvest interruption. The pattern turns drier in all areas through the remainder of the week along with a cooling in the temperature trend. Harvest remains generally favorable for this crop season.

HOT, DRY, WINDY IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

Very dry conditions in the Southern Plains, along with very warm to hot temperatures and strong winds, have been very stressful for winter wheat in its early development and pre-dormancy stages. Dry conditions remain in the forecast through the next week.

MAINLY DRY IN NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, strong winds with gusts approaching 60 mph during the weekend may have caused some crop damage. Additional scattered thunderstorms with strong winds are possible during the coming week. The general pattern will favor row-crop harvest due to a lack of wet conditions.

SOUTHERN HARVEST DISRUPTION

Delta harvest will be delayed following heavy rain and stormy conditions from Hurricane Delta over the past weekend.

IMPROVING CENTRAL BRAZIL RAIN

Central Brazil crop areas have improved rain prospects during the next week. Coverage of moderate amounts is indicated for most primary soybean crop areas. This higher chance for rain is likely to encourage active soybean planting.

VARIABLE ARGENTINA RAIN

Central Argentina has variable rain indicated in the forecast through the next week. This mixed rainfall pattern will be watched closely for adverse effects on central crop areas. An established La Nina Pacific Ocean event has a high correlation to drought in central Argentina.

LATE-ARRIVING RUSSIA RAIN

Russia wheat areas have light rain in the forecast over the next week. Rain will offer minimal improvement in the establishment of winter wheat.

LIGHT AUSTRALIA MOISTURE

Australia southeastern wheat areas have light rain in the forecast through the next seven days. Other wheat areas will be mainly dry. Eastern wheat areas have average to above-average soil moisture. Western wheat areas, however, have below-average moisture.
