OMAHA (DTN) -- Only light rain in store for the Eastern Midwest and useful precipitation in the Northern Plains are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

LIGHT RAIN FOR EASTERN MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for only isolated showers for the eastern Midwest this week, along with above normal temperatures. This pattern will be stressful to pollinating corn. Western and northern areas have a higher chance for rain to benefit crops.

BENEFICIAL SOUTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE

Southern Plains crop areas had rain during the weekend, including over the Texas Panhandle. This likely delayed some of the remaining wheat harvest, but will be good for developing corn and cotton. A front will linger across Texas with showers through Wednesday. More isolated showers will dot the region through the week. A couple of disturbances could bring thunderstorms across the north as well.

FAVORABLE NORTHERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Northern Plains, moderate to heavy rain moved across most of the region over the weekend, supporting good soil moisture where they occurred. Additional rain is in store during the coming week.

SHOWERS FOR DELTA

Delta and Southeast crop areas will have periods of showers and thunderstorms through the week. These occurrences will maintain favorable crop prospects.

WEEKEND PRAIRIES RAIN

The Canadian Prairies had scattered showers across mainly northern and eastern areas over the weekend, benefiting developing wheat. Portions of southern Alberta and Saskatchewan were drier but soil moisture in the region is more than adequate due to last week's rains. Overall, favorable conditions continue.

VARIABLE BLACK SEA RAIN

In the Black Sea region, western sectors had periods of rain over the past weekend, while hot and dry conditions covered eastern crop areas. The very warm to hot and dry pattern is favorable for harvest. A cold front moves through the region during Tuesday through Thursday, offering light showers in Ukraine. Russia will have no appreciable rain from this system.

SCATTERED EASTERN EUROPE SHOWERS

In Europe, scattered rain showers are indicated for eastern regions during this week. Overall, conditions are favorable for most of the summer crops.

MOSTLY DRY FOR BRAZIL HARVEST

Central Brazil crop areas continue with dry conditions through the week. This drier trend is favorable for additional safrinha corn harvest progress.

DRIER IN CENTRAL ARGENTINA

In Argentina, concern over soil moisture deficits for the interior central and southern growing areas continues this week. Another couple of cold nights are forecast this week across the south as well.

LIMITED EASTERN AUSTRALIA RAIN

In eastern Australia wheat areas, the past weekend featured showers in Victoria, but very little elsewhere. Queensland notably needs additional rain. Some showers may develop in Queensland later in the week.
