OMAHA (DTN) -- Typical spring temperatures and periods of rain for the Midwest and favorable moisture prospects in international wheat areas are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Thursday.

BENEFICIAL MIDWEST COMBINATION

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a warming trend with moderate-to-heavy rain in the Midwest during the next five days. Some flooding is possible in the southern and eastern Midwest. However, moisture will generally be favorable. A turn to warmer conditions will favor crop development after the cold pattern during the Mother's Day weekend.

WIDELY VARIABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Southern Plains, central and eastern sectors have additional rain expected through the end of the week. The western sector remains mainly dry with drought intensifying. Some chances for showers and warmer weather are expected next week.

SEASONAL NORTHERN PLAINS TREND

In the Northern Plains, the temperature pattern shows a more seasonal trend over the next week. This trend will offer some improvement in field drying for planting of row crops and spring wheat. Progress will remain behind average due to very wet soils from heavy precipitation during the past 12 months.

SCATTERED DELTA SHOWERS

The Delta will have scattered showers through the next week. Developing crops will have favorable conditions.

LIGHT BLACK SEA SHOWERS

Wheat areas in the Black Sea region of Russia and Ukraine saw beneficial rain during the past week. Periods of light showers continue to be featured in the forecast during the balance of this week as well.

NORTHERN EUROPE RAINFALL

Across Europe, rain and cool conditions in northern areas will keep crop development slow during this week. Elsewhere, southeast areas are turning drier.

LIGHT BRAZIL RAIN

The rain forecast for Brazil crop areas is for lighter amounts during the next week than seen in previous forecasts. The rain offers minimal benefit for the safrinha corn crop.

DRY ARGENTINA FORECAST

Argentina crop areas continue with a dry forecast through the next seven days. The drier trend benefits corn and soybean harvest; however, recent dryness has been unfavorable for river transport of commodities.

FAVORABLE AUSTRALIA MOISTURE

Australia wheat areas have beneficial moisture for wheat seeding and early crop development after a more active rainfall pattern. Continued rains are forecast through the growing season.
