Commodities Market Impact Weather
Eastern Corn Belt Rain Focus
OMAHA (DTN) -- Rain to target the eastern Midwest and shower prospects in for needed precipitation in Europe and the Black Sea region are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.
EASTERN MIDWEST RAIN
The DTN ag weather forecast again features the prospect of moderate-to-heavy rain in the eastern Midwest areas during the next seven days. The rain will hinder fieldwork and planting. The western Midwest has mostly drier conditions to favor additional planting progress.
MORE SOUTHERN PLAINS DRYNESS
The Southern Plains region continues with stressful dry, windy and very warm-to-hot conditions in the forecast through the end of April and into early May. Wheat conditions are declining due to the impact of dryness along with freezes in mid-April. Shower chances become more numerous in the five-to-seven-day time frame; however, meaningful dryness easing is unlikely.
SCATTERED NORTHERN PLAIN SHOWERS

The Northern Plains region has mainly scattered showers in store through the next week. The drier trend will be favorable for field drying and planting progress.
DRIER DELTA PATTERN
The Delta weather pattern turns drier through the next seven days. This trend will favor planting progress.
EUROPE RAIN PROSPECTS
Central and northern Europe crop areas continue with a good chance for rain over the next seven days. This would be important moisture for wheat areas and will be closely tracked.
SHOWERS FOR BLACK SEA
Black Sea region wheat areas continue with prospects for light-to-moderate rain during the rest of the week and through the seven-day period. Winter grains in Russia and Ukraine need additional moisture as they go through their development and reproductive phases.
VARIABLE BRAZIL RAIN FORECAST
Across Brazil, the next seven days feature dry conditions with above normal temperatures in central crop areas. This pattern is unfavorable for safrinha (second-crop) corn. Southern areas will have heavier amounts with some improvement in crop conditions.
DRIER ARGENTINA PATTERN
Argentina crop areas have lighter rain forecast through the next seven days. The drier trend will favor harvest activity.
MIXED AUSTRALIA RAIN PROSPECTS
Australia winter wheat areas have a mixed rain forecast over the next seven days. Western Australia will be mainly dry with additional rain needed to benefit newly seeded wheat. Eastern areas have light-to-moderate rain with locally heavy in New South Wales. Soil moisture is notably improved for the new wheat crop planting and growth in eastern Australia wheat areas.
